Between Macie, Pinterest, school, Pinterest, cleaning, Pinterest.....well, you get the point.....I've been a little "busy" and have neglected my precious blog.
Well, we haven't been up to much but we did celebrate a very special man's birthday a couple of weeks ago! My sweet, sweet Grandad turned 81. He's such an amazing man, one of few words, but full of love and kindness. I am thankful to have him in my life and very thankful that Macie gets to know her Great-Grandad. We had a hamburger lunch and my mom made the "world famous Big Red ice cream" that my family digs. I promise, after next week {when Summer school is out} I will start blogging mucho mas!

a cluster of events
Not a lot going on with us right now. Well, nothing exciting at least. I go to school 4 days a week and don't have a lot of time for "fun" stuff. I had my first Summer session test today and I think I owned it - woohoo! {Yes, that's the extent of my excitement...sad, I know}
So anyway, I forgot to write about our family reunion last weekend. We really don't "know" most of the "family" there, but I went to make my parents happy.....and to see what my distant family is like. It was so weird, there was a distant cousin there that looks like Hannah's twin. Of course I didn't get a picture of them together, I was too busy talking. I don't think we have been to a Wagner reunion in probably about 10-15 years. A lot of the people there knew each other, which made it a little awkward. We talked with a few people, but I mainly just stuck with my mom and sister. We talked for quite a while to our cousin that was in a car accident back in February {with a pregnant cow}. The cow actually came through the windshield and into her face. Her story is amazing and the progress she has made is so inspiring.
Needless to say, I did too much talking and not enough picture taking. Oh well, I got a few {but only of the kiddos}.
After the reunion, Macie wanted to stay with my mom. That left Chris and I with a chance for a date night. We came back to Granbury, went to dinner at Hoffbrau, returned home for a little while, and caught the 9:45 showing of Super 8. Food was okay, Chris fell asleep while we were at home, and the movie was ehh....not what I expected. At least we got to sleep in the next morning and lie in bed all morning/day watching movies on Starz.
Okay, I tried to finish this last night.....I was way too tired! Here we go again:
So, Sunday we headed to my parents house for a cookout at my dad's "Man House" and to watch the Mavs. The guys and kids always have a fun time down there because it's "manly" {lots of tools, a classic car, and most importantly a TV}.
My dad smoked a few chickens and my mom and grandma made some yummy sides. I did make some black bean & corn salsa, but that was eaten before we even thought about going down to the shop. Whoops! My grandma brought over some cookies {her go-to dessert} and my mom brought a bowl of fruit {Macie went crazy for some grapes}. Noah was our cookie monster.....that boy cracks me up!
It's always a great time with family, no matter where we decide to congregate! The Mavs WON the championship and everyone went home happy. That is what I call quality time!
So, I just have to throw this in:
Yesterday I got a spray tan and I love it! Unfortunately with our busy schedule lately, I haven't been able to make many dates with the sun {or tanning bed}. Tomorrow we're {mom, sister, and me} going to see Chelsea Handler and I don't want to be pale, so spray tan was the next best thing. I have tried and tried to perfect doing this at home, but it just doesn't look anywhere near as good. I am pleasantly pleased with the results and I recommend Ashlee at Just Tan It in Stephenville. Here are my results:
Chris said I looked orange, but it was just because I hadn't showered yet. After a shower, I look like a bronzed goddess - he approved. Love it!

Pizza Theme
Tonight, after deciding that cooking dinner is overrated, I decided we would have a "pizza themed" dinner - easy and yummy! Meat Lover's Pizza - Digiorno, not delivery :) - and fruit pizza.
I started off by making the fruit pizza. I just made a giant cookie out of a Pillsbury sugar cookie dough, mixed together a tub of Cool Whip and cream cheese {with a tiny bit of sugar}, and cut up some strawberries then added some blackberries {Macie's favorite!}. I don't know why, but I thought the cream cheese mixture would spread easier if I did it while the cookie was still warm....wrong....duh! In the picture in the lower left corner, you can see that it melted a little, making it a little difficult. I got around it, though - I always seem to.
The sweet mother I am - or child at heart, which ever you would call it - let Macie lick the beaters and bowl. She loved it....a little too much....she decided to share with the window {and the floor, I didn't notice that until later}
Okay, maybe Macie got some because I started it.......
What can I say? It's delicious creaminess! Mmmmmm.......
The final product...........
Digiorno - hey, it's not gourmet, but always a win.
Fruit Pizza - a definite hit!
Now we're all sitting around watching a movie.
I'm going to check into Sleepytown in a bit.
I'm tired.
This whole going to school every day....all day.... is getting to me.
I'm ready to get my Summer back.
3 more weeks!

Our Zoo Day!
Last night, I had a last minute idea to take Macie to the zoo today. I thought she would probably have more fun if we had some "friends" around {and I really wanted to see my sister} so I sent a quick message to ask if they had plans. For once, they DIDN'T! She met me at my house at about 10:30 a.m. and we headed out TRYING to avoid the HEAT {I think this time of year that is near impossible}. Loaded down with water, juice boxes, and snacks we set out for the 30 minute trip to the zoo!
Hannah was so sweet. She's so good with Macie {and her little stinker brother, Noah}.
The tiger was napping. So cute!
It was so interesting to get to see them so up close!
Most of the animals were really lazy {understandable} and not doing much. The ones that did socialize were pretty funny {I loved the cute little penguins}.
Noah loved all of the mechanical dinosaurs that the put in all over the park. It was so funny, he would "rawr" right back at them. He's not scared!
I don't know why my child looks less than interested in EVERY SINGLE PICTURE I take of the little toot! Meanwhile, Hannah is our little poser. And that frog was totally disappointing. You had to pay to hear it and it only croaked for about 1 second. Lame.
P.S. I hate whenever I accidentally shake my phone and Hipstamatic switches over to random! This picture was supposed to look different. Ahhh well. |
The zoo is always a hit. This time, the biggest hit was the area by the {stinky} elephants that had the fans with the misters. I vote the zoo put those in all areas!
The car was super duper hot, so we waited under a tiny bit of shade while the AC cooled a little.
The kids weren't going to last much longer. They were hungry and tired...thank goodness it only took a few minutes!
After a short lunch, we finally made it home....I was pooped, Macie had more energy than when we left the house, and I had no idea what I was going to do for supper because I was completely exhausted!
I got a few cuddles for about a minute......maybe. I'll take whatever I can get! |
